To help us prepare for this coming Sunday, here are the readings, studies and reflections for this coming Sunday's Scripture readings. This Sunday is the First Sunday in Advent. It marks the beginning of a new liturgical year, and the time we prepare for the two comings of Christ: on Christmas, when he first came into the world as a humble infant, and toward his Second Coming at the end of time when he will come in glory. It also marks the introduction of the revised Sacramentary in the Catholic liturgy.
Here are the Scripture readings from the U.S. Catholic bishops website.
My own weekly study on the Sunday Readings can be found here.
Here are four short audio reflections on the readings by Sister Ann Shields, Dr. Scott Hahn, and Fr. Robert Barron.
An hour long Catholic Bible study podcast can be found at St. Martha's Adult Faith Formation.
The Navarre Bible Commentary for each reading can be viewed here.
